Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Yoga-is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.  This class generally goes through the Primary Series.  Ashtanga Primary Series: Also known as Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy) This class refers to the full primary series of the ashtanga system, as taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. This flowing, set, sequence of postures utilizes ujjayi breath and bandhas (energy locks) to increases muscular strength, flexibility, concentration and to deepen one’s connection to Self.  This class is not recommended for brand new beginners.
